Foucault's pendulum

In Paris, 1851, Jean-Bernard-Léon Foucault had shown, that the earth revolves on its axis. To reapet that experiment use a long steel wire and suspend an iron ball to create a pendulum, and set it in motion, rocking back and forth.

The pendulum will start to rotate, leaving a slightly different trace with each swing. But the truth is that it is the floor that is slowly moving . On the Southern Hemisphere it would rotate counterclockwise, and on the Equator it wouldn't revolve at all. At the South Pole, as the modern-day scientists confirmed, the period of rotation is 24 hours.
